Rosi Schuster is located in Burgenland of eastern Austria near the great shallow lake called the Neusiedlersee. Grapes for the Aus Den Dörfern (“from the villages”) were sourced from estate vineyards from the villages surrounding the town of Rust, where gneiss, schist, limestone, and sand contribute to this mineral-driven wine.

Rosi Schuster (the winery) was founded in 1979, and the wines are made by Rosi's son, Hannes Schuster who joined the family domain in 2005. Hannes is fastidious in his vineyard work, practicing organics (in transition to certification), and is passionate about the native red Austrian varieties Blaufrankisch, Rotburger and St. Laurent.

Hannes Schuster took on running the estate alongside his mother Rosi in 2005. Since then he's established his reputation by pushing the vineyards towards organic production and in 2011 winning Gault & Millau Austrian Wine of the Year for his 2009 Blaufränkisch Rusterberg. The grapes for the Rosi Schuster Sankt Laurent grow on vines aged between 11 and 31 years old growing on the hillsides (120-180m) of Sankt Margarethen, Zagersdorf, Oslip and Donnerskirchen. The soils feature sand, limestone, loam and slate. The fruit is handpicked and undergoes fermentation with indigenous yeasts.

Het wijngoed Rosi Schuster is gelegen in St.Margarethen in het Neusiedlersee-Hügelland wijnbouwgebied Burgenland. Sinds 2007 wordt het gerund door Rosi Schuster samen met haar zoon Hannes. De 9 hectaren wijngaard zijn hoofdzakelijk aangeplant met Blaufrankisch, Zweigelt en St Laurent met een gemiddelde ouderdom van de wijngaarden van 40 jaar. Sidst jeg – for et par år siden – drak en vin fra den dygtige unge vinmager Hannes Schuster på Weingut Rosi Schuster, der var det på Sankt Laurent.
